How to Make Your Healthy Habits StickHappy New Year, A-Team clients! I hope your year has started off on a bright note. Perhaps, like a lot of folks, you’ve made a resolution or two for the New Year. And perhaps, also like a lot of folks, you may struggle to keep up with them. You’re not alone! Here are just a few tips to help make your healthy habits stick: Start with 30 days. “They” say it takes 21 days to create a habit. Try for 30! If you can make it through the initial “new habit” phase, it’s so much easier to keep going. Start simple. If you try and start a new workout routine plus a new nutrition plan plus a self-care routine plus good sleep habits… that’s a lot. Choose one goal and start there. Start small. Once you have your one goal, break it down super small. For example, if you want to eat more fruits and veggies, make your goal to add a single serving with dinner every day. Once you’re doing that, add it to lunch. Once you’re doing that, add it to breakfast. Do that for 30 days and look at that! New habit achieved. Set reminders. Make technology work for you! Set reminders on your phone or put up sticky notes on your bathroom mirror. (Hey, sticky notes count as old-fashioned tech!) Get encouragement. Either tell a friend or family member about your goals or work with a personal trainer for support. It’s so much easier to reach your goals when you have someone to follow up with you.
